Makassed celebrated a significant achievement with the completion of the first phase of the restoration of “Beit Al Makassed,” the former building of the Higher Institute of Islamic Studies. This milestone was made possible through collaborative efforts with the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas (ALIPH) and the European Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD).

The inauguration was attended by many, including Caretaker Minister of Information Ziad Makari, French Ambassador to Lebanon Hervé Magro, and Vice President of Makassed Dr. Imad Itani, representing President Dr. Faisal Sinno, alongside members of Makassed Board of Trustees.

He expressed heartfelt gratitude to donors and partners whose contributions made the restoration and rehabilitation efforts possible. Valery Freeland, Executive Director of ALIPH, then conveyed his satisfaction upon the completion of the restoration work, underscoring the importance of protecting cultural heritage, particularly in conflict-affected areas.

Vianney Basse, Director of IECD, emphasized the immense effort invested in the project, emphasizing the vital role of preserving cultural heritage amidst adversity.
