Unveiling Makassed Square A Symbol of Unity and Progress in Beirut
By Makassed Islamic Association of Beirut proudly inaugurated Makassed Square at the central eastern entrance to Corniche Al Mazraa. The ceremony, held under the patronage of the Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif Derian, represented by His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Osama Haddad, took place in the presence of guests, including His Excellency the Governor of the City of Beirut, Judge Marwan Abboud, and Beirut MP, Faisal Al-Sayegh
During his address, President Dr. Faisal Sinno emphasized Makassed commitment to sustainable development in all its sectors of activities, envisioning Makassed Square as a hub for collaboration and unity among all segments of Beirut society.
Judge Marwan Abboud expressed his joy at the square’s opening which embodies the essence of the region and the heritage of Makassed. He then praised Makassed’s moderate approach and its contribution to countering extremist ideas while preserving the region’s identity.
“Makassed, guided by its Quranic slogan, ‘My Lord, improve me in knowledge’ will remain a beacon of learning for the people of Beirut and Lebanon, built on principles that make us proud”, Sheikh Haddad said.
The participation of Makassed’s Islamic Scouts Association added to the vibrancy of the event, as scouts and musicians warmly welcomed guests to the ceremony
