Makassed Education Office Organizes First Educational Conference
By The Makassed Education Office organized an educational conference under the theme “Shaping Generations for a Smarter Society”. The conference, held under the auspices of the Minister of Education and Higher Education Judge Abbas Al Halabi took place on June 2nd and 3rd, 2023 at the Radisson-Blu Hotel in Verdun.
Ministers, representatives of the Lebanese Army, Heads of Education institutions, directors at the Ministry of Education and lecturers from prestigious Lebanese universities were present.
The event included two panel discussions moderated by Dr. Pierre Gedeon, Classera Country Manager and Mrs. Sohair Zein, Makassed Director of the Educational and Research Development Center.
The panels hosted Prof. Salim Daccache, Rector of Saint Joseph University in Beirut, Prof. Amr Jalal Al Adawi, President of Beirut Arab University, Prof. Hyam Ishak, Director of the Center of Research and Development, Dr. Mariette Awwad, Associate Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the American University of Beirut and Mr. Johnny Karam, Regional Azure lead at Microsoft.
On the second day, trainers presented sessions focusing on the 5th generation and its requirements. The training sessions dealt with several topics including Chat GPT and teaching English using artificial intelligence in addition to strategies that enhance higher-order thinking skills and other topics that discussed the psychological aspect of education and learning difficulties.
