In this new issue of our quarterly newsletter, we are thrilled to share with you the latest developments at Makassed which lift our spirits despite the obstacles.

Lebanon is enduring a severe economic depression and our tiny country is suffering from plummeting purchasing power, high unemployment rate and an increasing share of our citizens facing difficulty in accessing basic services, including health care.  Despite those colossal challenges, we have an overriding duty to honour the trust that has been reposed in us on behalf of future generations.

Makassed is considered the mother of all associations in Lebanon and across the region, and while these unprecedented dire times might lead to fear and anxiety in many, we reiterate our firm commitment to pursue our mission and invest in a future full of new opportunities. I wish here to pay here tribute to the hard work of the Makassed team in all our departments and their determination to improve the well-being of the community.

In this issue, you will learn about success stories of Makassed students – whether in our schools, university faculties or at our training center. Investing in them, giving them solid national roots, is the guarantee of a better future for Lebanon for generations to come.

Moreover, you will read about how our youth are dedicated members of the Muslim community as well with our scouts, volunteers and Ward El Makassed trainees doing wonders to help vulnerable families during the Holy month of Ramadan.

This issue also tackles some of our successes in our health care services from our pride in our nurses and medical teams to the health treatments offered to people in need and the inauguration of the Sana Tabbara building to improve our hospital’s premises and facilitate our staff’s work.

Makassed operates through the generosity of our supportive community and the trust of our donors has a pivotal role in our mission of restoring confidence and life to our dear Lebanon and to our beloved Beirut.

In the name of all of us at Makassed, I take this opportunity to thank our dedicated supporters, noting however that nothing would be possible without the continued efforts of Makassed staff who aim for excellence in their respective field.

Wishing you all progress and success always,

Faisal B. Sinno
